CHENNAI: Chennai will be host to a day-long conference on the Montessori form of education with a view to encouraging fellowship and professional development of educators. Organised by the Indian Montessori Centre, ‘Maitri 2012’ will be held on January 21 (Saturday) on the Ethiraj College campus between 9 am and 4.30 pm.US-based experts in pedagogy and education systems for the formative and primary years, Dr Angeline S Lillard, Paula Polk Lillard and Lynn Lillard Jessen, and Uma Shanker, Director, Centre for Montessori Training, Chennai, will address the conference.The conference would provide a platform for all child educators – teachers, trainers, heads of schools, alumni or parents – to come together and brainstorm over the new challenges being thrown up in the light of new technological breakthroughs and increased consumerism, and create the appropriate environment for learning.The conference is targeted towards Montessori teachers, school heads, professors and students of psychology, education policy makers, researchers in child development studies, education department officials and parents.
