More funds pour in for Thane relief fund
The Chief Minister's Relief Fund on Tuesday touched Rs 112,02,89,338 to execute relief work in Cyclone Thane affected districts of Cuddalore and Villupuram.

Chennai: The Chief Minister's Relief Fund on Tuesday touched Rs 112,02,89,338 to execute relief work in Cyclone Thane affected districts of Cuddalore and Villupuram. In an official release the TN government said that on Tuesday alone Rs 5,82,83,940 was remitted towards the relief account by State ministers and government employees, besides others.

Minister for Social Welfare B Valarmathi, her department officials and employees contributed a day’s salary amounting to Rs 1,55,05,112. Minister for Commercial Taxes and Registration, C Ve Shanmugam, department officials and employees donated a day’s salary of Rs 54,99,987.

Similarly, Ministers and their respective departmental officials and employees contributed one day salary as follows: Public Works Minister KV Ramalingam Rs 90,03,211, Rural Industries Minister MC Sampath Rs 55,88,108, Labour Welfare Minister ST Chellapandian Rs 44,48,717, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister Rs 15,43,593, Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Minister A Mohammedjan, Rs 31,98,709, Coimbatore Corporation Mayor SM Velusamy, corporation councillors and teachers and employees Rs 11,29,161.

Environment Minister BV Ramanaa's personal contribution of Rs 5 lakh with the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board officials and employees contribution of Rs 6,91,395 totalled Rs 11,91,395.

Special Representative of Tamil Nadu in New Delhi A Asokan contributed 1 lakh, and Delhi TN House employees added Rs 76,022 totalling Rs 1,76,022. Also, on behalf of United India Insurance Corporation, its chairman and managing director G Srinivasan put in Rs 1 crore and S Ramani Iyer on behalf of Nanganallur Sri Maruthi Baktha Samajam Trust added Rs 10,00,015.
