HYDERABAD: Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has assured to introduce more welfare programmes and continuance of free power supply to farmers and Arogyasri health schemes. Talking to media at Secretariat on his 51st birthday on Tuesday, Reddy was firm on increasing VAT on commodities by 1 p.c. “There will be a double way of losing a revenue of about `2,300 crore which includes Centre’s assistance of `1,000 crore if VAT is not increased in the state by 1 per cent.’’Asked whether “no-work no-pay” rule would be applicable to T ministers who have not been discharging duties, Reddy said there was no need of ministers in their offices. “Some of the T ministers function from Secretariat and others from their homes.”Reddy said he suspected that energy officials failed to check power transmission and distribution losses and were showing losses as those accrued on account of supplying free power to farmers.
