CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday castigated the ‘bourgeois media’ for misleading the party cadre on the Mundur issue.
There were organisational problems in relation to Mundur within the party but many of the cadre were misled on the decisions taken by the party because of the concerted campaign by the bourgeois media, he said.
He was addressing a public meeting organised by the Mundur area committee of the CPM here in the backdrop of the demotion of the former area secretary of Mundur P A Gokuldas.
A combative Vijayan said that the designs of the ‘enemies of the party’ will not succeed. Some ‘innocent’ workers of the party were carried away by the tirade carried out by the bourgeois media. Much of the news put out as the decisions of the CPM was speculative and untrue. The media only helped create confusion in the minds of the people, he said.
The appeal of former Mundur area secretary Gokuldas was presently before the CPM state committee for consideration.
But the party cadre have understood that they have been misled on the issue. They were working unitedly now. The party will face the challenges head-on and defeat them, he said.
Minorities issue: There was a concerted move to brand the CPM as anti-minorities. The party of the working class did not need any certificate for its secular and pro-minority credentials, he said.
There was a move from some sections to label the CPM as ‘anti-Muslim.’ But these tactics of the communal parties and other casteist organisations will not succeed, he said.
The unity of the Hindu organisations was the goal of the RSS which will be opposed. The moves for unity between the NSS and the SNDP yogam are being welcomed by communal organisations.
The policies of the UPA Government and the UDF Government are anti-people. At the Centre, there was an unholy nexus between the politicians and bureaucracy. The UDF Government was framing policies to benefit the real estate sharks, he charged.
