'My Daughter Would Be Alive If...': Kolkata Doctor's Father Accuses Mamata Of Inaction Against Sandip Ghosh
The father of the Kolkata rape and murder victim has said his daughter would still be alive if the West Bengal government had acted earlier on financial irregularities involving former RG Kar Hospital principal Sandip Ghosh.

Referring to the allegations of financial irregularities against Sandip Ghosh, the father of the Kolkata rape and murder victim has said his daughter would have been alive had the West Bengal government taken action against Ghosh earlier.

The allegations of financial irregularities at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital came to light after the body of a woman doctor was found there on August 9.

“In the year 2021, RG Kar Hospital’s former principal, Sandip Ghosh, was accused was financial irregularities at the institute. Had the Chief Minister (Mamata Banerjee) taken action against Ghosh then, my daughter would have been alive today,” a grieving father of the victim told reporters.

Also reacting to the probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the case, the doctor’s father said, “The CBI is doing its job, we cannot say anything about the investigation. Whoever is connected with this murder, in some or the other way, or those who are involved in tampering with evidence, all are being interrogated.”

About the ongoing doctors’ protest, he said, “They (junior doctors) are sitting in protest. They are all like my children and we feel pain seeing them like this.”

ALLEGATIONS AGAINST SANDIP GHOSH

Ghosh is under investigation for alleged financial mismanagement and irregularities during his time as principal of RG Kar Medical College.

He has also been questioned by the CBI in connection with the rape and murder of the doctor at the hospital on August 9, leading to his arrest in that case.

A probe by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) after the college authorities filed a complaint, accusing Ghosh of misappropriating funds meant for development and research projects at the institution.
