Chennai: An air hostess of an airliner was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her residence in Mogappair on Sunday.
Police sources said the highly decomposed body of air hostess Nithyakumari (25), was found under the cot in her bedroom. Nithyakumari, daughter of Vijayaprasad, hailing from Bihar, was said to be working with National carrier Air India.
She was suspected to have died at least three days ago.
As foul smell emanated from her residence, the house owner Bhaskar Rao lodged a complaint with the police, who rushed to the spot, broke open the doors and found her dead under the cot.
The body of the air hostess was taken to the Government Hospital
for post mortem. Senior police officials rushed to the spot and held preliminary inquest.
Police suspect it to be a case of suicide as some poisonous materials were found in her room. As mystery shrouds her death, Police have registered a case of suspicious death.
