Kanpur: In a shocking incident, a national level woman Kabaddi player has been beaten up for allegedly resisting a molestation attempt in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

The Kabaddi player, Dolly Singh, was manhandled ruthlessly, suffering severe injuries on face.

According to Singh, at least 10-12 people, armed with sticks and guns, stormed into her house and beat her up as she had earlier resisted a molestation attempt by some goons. No arrest has been made in the case so far.

The father of the national level player blamed the police for avoiding the filing of an FIR in the case.

"We went to police, they said okay we'll register a case, but soon that went cold. Then we went to the DIG, they tried to console us and then turned us away," he said.

Meanwhile, speaking to CNN-IBN, Samajwadi Party leader Gaurav Bhatia said that an FIR had been registered in connection with the incident and the absconding accused would soon be arrested.
