Naxals attack Bihar village, kill 10 people
Naxals reportedly surrounded the village and set 12 houses on fire.

Patna: In the second major attack in the last three days 10 people were killed when Naxals struck in a village in Bihar's Jamaui district on Wednesday night.

More than 100 heavily-armed Naxals reportedly surrounded Kasari village in Jamaui district firing indiscriminately and also setting at least 12 houses on fire.

"A total of 10 villagers are dead. Of these three died of gunshot injury, one woman died of shock and others were buried under rubble as the Naxals used IEDs to blast their houses. Naxals attacked this village as the villagers refused to join them," ADG (HQ), Bihar Police, US Dutt said.

The rebels also abducted three boys but one managed to escape from their clutches.

"The combing operations are over Naxals attacked the village post midnight. They used IED in the village and landmines were laid on the roofs as well. huts were also set on fire," ADG (HQ), Bihar Police, US Dutt said.

Police force from a picket one and a half km away from the village rushed towards the towards spot on seeing the flames from the burning huts.

But the Naxals had also laid landmines on the road leading upto the village and some of them engaged the police personnel in a gunbattle on the outskirts of the village.

Meanwhile, in another Naxals strike in West Bengal armed rebels attacked at a paramilitary camp in Dharampur on the outskirts of Lalgarh on Thursday morning.

The paramilitary personnel and the Naxals are engaged in a heavy exchange of fire at the camp.

No causalities have been reported till now.

On Monday, a group of Naxals had launched a deadly attack at the Silda camp in West Bengal leaving 24 jawans dead.

All the jawans belonged to the Eastern Frontier Rifle (EFR) and were posted at a camp at Silda in West Midnapore.
