TIRUMALA: Saint Tallapaka Annamacharya, popularly known as ‘Padakavitha Pitamaha’ propagated the bhakti cult with his rare and outstanding keertanas written in praise of Lord, said TTD EO, Sri L V Subramanyam.Speaking to the mediapersons at the conclusion of 509th death anniversary of Annamacharya, here at Kalyana Vedika on Monday Subramanyam said that Annamacharya, who was born in the year 1408, had composed over 32,000 sankeerthanas, before he breathed his last in 1503 AD.“We want to popularise his keertanas by composing new musical notes and training up children in each and every district. The children who master the sankeerthanas will be provided an opportunity to showcase their talent. In recent times the popularity of Annamaiah songs have even spread to other states and they are asking the TTD to translate the works into other languages,” he added.Governor Narasimhan relesed four CDs of keertanas, ‘Annamaiah Padamukundam’, ‘Sri Venkateswara Vairagya Vachana Malika’, ‘Pedda Tirumalaiah Padasudarshanam’ and ‘Annamaiah Padamuthyala Saralu’ and three books, ‘Annamaiah Jeevitha Charitra’, ‘Sapthagiri Sankeerthanalu’ and ‘Dhyana Sarassu’ in Tamil on the occasion.
