In a retaliatory act, Nirmal Baba's son has filed a case against a man who had previously lodged a case against the self-proclaimed godman accusing him of fraud and cheating, police said.

Supreet Barula lodged a counter case against Professor Harish Veer Singh and Doctor Rajkumar alleging that the duo is demanding Rs 50 lakh for withdrawing the case against his father, they said.

Singh, in December last year, had approached a local court in Meerut alleging that after extracting money from him, Nirmal Baba had advised him to eat 'kheer' (rice pudding) as a remedy for diabetes, following which his health deteriorated.

The court had summoned the Baba on October 31 last year, but he didn't appear before the court and forwarded a request for an exemption from appearing before the court.

The court rejected his petition and issued a bailable warrant against the self-styled god-man and summoned him for hearing on January 6 this year. According to the police, Supreet has submitted documents which show that Singh is not a diabetic patient.
