Bandipora (Kashmir): Infiltration attempts from across the Line of Control (LoC) have come down to a 20-year low as no militant has been able to sneak into the Kashmir Valley so far this year.
"I think I can count them as infiltration attempts, (there were) perhaps two (attempts)," General Officer Commanding of Srinagar-based 15 Corps Syed Atta Hasnain said, 80 km from Srinagar.
He said both the infiltration attempts were unsuccessful.
This is for the first time that infiltration has come down to zero in the past 20 years, according to official figures.
Last year, more than 100 infiltration bids were reported along the LoC in which around 100 ultras were killed.
The Army's top commander in the Valley said there were no "confirmed" reports of any infiltration into the region.
The Corps commander visited this north Kashmir district for an 'Awami Mulakat' (public meet) with the newly elected sarpanchs and people of the area.
