Nokia, the world's largest mobile phone maker, has also jumped into the dual-SIM arena.

New Delhi: Nokia, the world's largest mobile phone maker, has also jumped into the dual-SIM arena. The company announced four new budget phones at a media conference in Nairobi, Kenya.

Amongst the four phones launched, C1-00 and C2-00 can support two SIMs, while the other two, C1-01 and C1-02, are single-SIM devices.

The Nokia C1 phones boast of the longest standby battery time (up to six weeks) for any Nokia phone and come with a colour screen, flashlight and FM radio.

The Nokia C2-00 supports micro-SD cards of up to 32GB and comes equipped with Nokia's Ovi Life Tools and Ovi Mail. The Nokia C1-01 and C1-02 also have a built in VGA camera.

The budget phones are expected to be priced in the range of Rs 1700-2600 (30-45 euros).

Nokia controls more than 50 percent of phone sales in India and Africa, and has a strong position on most other emerging markets.

"Tens of millions of these products will be sold, but competition is intensifying as Chinese vendors aggressively target the ultra low cost segment," said Ben Wood, director of research at CCS Insight.

"With all the focus on its smartphone woes it is easy to forget that Nokia is a power house in entry level products."

Nokia has struggled to keep up with rivals like Apple and RIM in the high-end of the market, and its ailing smartphone offering has hurt the stock price over the last few months.
