'Not In My Control': Speaker Om Birla Responds To Congress Charge That Rahul's 'Mic Was Switched Off'
The opposition accused LS speaker of switching Rahul Gandhi's mic off during his speech in paliament.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla stated that the Speaker has no control over the microphones of the Members of Parliament in both Houses. Birla said this after the Opposition alleged that the microphone of Congress MP and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi was turned off.

Addressing the MPs, the Lok Sabha speaker said, “Outside the House, some MPs level allegations that the Speaker switches off the mic. The control of the mic is not in the hands of the one who sits on the Chair.”

Meanwhile, the opposition staged a walkout in Lok Sabha over the pre-medical entrance examination, NEET issue. The members of opposition parties walked out of the Lok Sabha despite assurance from the Centre.

Earlier today, the members of the opposition parties staged a protest on the Parliament premises on Monday against the central government‘s “misuse” of central agencies including the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
