New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh over revoking of AFSPA in the state.
The J&K chief minister is expected to discuss the controversy surrounding the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) with and Union Home Minister P Chidambaram later on Monday.
Omar has been favouring lifting of the Act from some parts of the Valley.
However, the army has opposed to the move, fearing there will be a flood of cases against it once AFSPA is removed. The Act gives immunity to the defence forces in areas where it is in force.
On Sunday, Omar had met Defence Minister A K Antony possibly over the issue of AFSPA.
Both the Antony and Omar were tight-lipped about the meeting.
"Yes I have just finished meeting the Defence Minister & no, I don't intend to speak to the media for the time being," Abdullah said on Twitter.
Abdullah has earlier held meetings with senior army officials in Jammu and Kashmir on the removal of AFSPA.
