THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Madhu alias Basheer, who allegedly stabbed a 19-year-old youth to death over a dispute related to the repayment of Rs 100, was held on Saturday night. The police nabbed Madhu, 44, of Elankathara, Karumam, near Nemom, from his sister’s house. According to police, Madhu was hiding in the house of his sister at Madhubalam, near Karumam, and he was about to flee from the site, when the police team reached. The incident occurred on Friday night at Karumam, followed by a fracas between Madhu and Shahen Sha, the victim. The police said that the dispute was over the repayment Rs 100, which Shahan Sha had borrowed from Madhu for filling petrol in the bike. As Shahen Sha refused to repay the money, Madhu stabbed the youth and fled from the scene. Though Shahen Sha was suddenly shifted to a nearby hospital, his life could not be saved. He is the son of Shahabudheen, of Suhra Manzil, Thirumala. The police said that Madhu was a Hindu, who converted to Islam and changed the name to Basheer. He was shifted to Karumam only two years ago. He was nabbed by a team, led by Fort Assistant Commissioner M Radhakrishnan Nair. The team also comprised Nemom Circle Inspector S Anil Kumar and Nemom Sub-Inspector Ajay Kumar.
