HYDERABAD: The Secunderabad railway police rescued eight child workers from a metal company and arrested the employer and a broker who brought the children from Bihar. Superintendent of railway police M Kantha Rao said they found P Ravi Shankar Kumar (13) , a resident of Baharampur village in Raghavapur mandal in Vaishali district of Bihar, loitering on Platform Number 1 of the Secunderabad railway station. “The boy looked depressed. He said he had escaped from the captivity of Keshree Metallurgical Company at Kothur in Mahbubnagar district. He disclosed that there were some other child workers in the custody of the industrialist,’’ the railway SP said.Railway police, along with labour department officials, raided the factory, rescued seven children and arrested factory owner Sanjay Jain Chouradia and superviser Naresh Kumar Sharma. Mahesh, a resident of Baharampur, supplied the child labourers to the company after paying paltry amounts to their parents, the SP said.The rescued children are Sunil Kumar (13) of Masuria village in Monathu mandal in Jharkhand; Jitendar (13) of Jola Bihar village in Chatra district of Jharkand; Sravan Kumar (13) of Chowki village in Gaya district of Bihar; Raju Kumar (12) of Reghara village in Jeerachatra district; Ram Babu (14) of Doda Bihar village in Jahanabad district; Pardeshi (12) of Nabisalaija village in Gaya district; Subhash (13) of Baluvai village in Gaya district; and Sujit Kumar (13) of Khadupur village in Gaya district of Bihar.
