BANGALORE: Members of all parties in the Legislative Council complimented Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda for the way in which he managed to take the Opposition parties. Senior JD (S) member MC Nanaiah took the lead to compliment Gowda for his conduct.“I wish you all the best for the council elections... We all want you to come here,” Nanaiah said, much to the amusement of the BJP members. Leader of Opposition C Motamma, too, wished the CM; she, however, reminded that her party’s candidate was also in the fray.“Anyway, I wish you all the best,” she said sending the house into peals of laughter.Gowda, meanwhile, thanked the Oppostion members for cooperating with the government in getting the bills passed.“I assure that in future, I will place the Bill well in advance to study it,” he said.The entire house responded by thumping their desks. The CM’s gesture to thank all members personally earned him bouquets.Meanwhile, the Legislative Council on Friday passed nine bills that were earlier passed by the Assembly.They are: Appropriation Bill, Kittur Development Authority Bill, Karnataka Motor Vehicle Tax Amendment, Karnataka Regulation of Stone Crushers Bill, Karnataka Land Revenue Amendment Bill, Karnataka Land Grabbing Prohibition Bill, Karnataka Stamp Amendment Bill and Karnataka Maritime Board Bill.Council was adjourned sine die.Chairman D H Shankaramurthy made the announcement to that effect.In all, the Upper house functioned for nine days.
