ROURKELA: In a twist to the continuing Orind imbroglio at Lathikata here, its former managing director Kashiprasad Jhunjhunwala was arrested on Sunday and remanded in judicial custody. The septuagenarian businessman Jhunjhunwala, who claimed to have distanced himself from the management of Orind, renamed as Shaswat International Ltd (SIL), was arrested on Sunday morning from Lathikata and produced in the court of Panposh SDJM. Jhunjhunwala had an arrest warrant issued against him in a cheque bounce case and was slapped with a fresh case for misappropriating statutory dues of employees. Rourkela SP Himanshu Lal said he was a partner in the company and shares equal liability. The arrest should be a warning to the absconding Orind chairman Ravin Jhunjhunwala and nephew of the arrested businessman, he added.Recently, the police made their stand against the errant management known by sending company officials Bikram Keshari Parida, manager (personnel), Puroshottam Chomal, manager (finance), and cashier Mahesh Sharma behind bars for 18 days.Meanwhile, the ongoing agitation in front of the office of the Rourkela DLC by the employees under the banner of Lathikata Mazdoor Munch (LMM) entered its 150th day on Monday. Birmitrapur MLA and LMM president George Tirkey said the LMM would stage another jail bharo stir from September 15.
