BALASORE: A 22-year-old girl of Soro area in the district, married in Uttar Pradesh, died in Punjab a couple of days back. If her in-laws are to be believed, she succumbed to a prolonged illness, but her family here alleged that she was murdered by her husband. Punjab police are investigating.The deceased’s mother Sarifuz Bibi left for Punjab on Tuesday to seek police help to book the culprits. She is accompanied by her son Sk Kadir and younger daughter Chanmun Bibi.Sources said Sk Uzir and Sarifuz of Kazimohalla here had married off their daughter Sagupta to Sahana Ali of Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, about two years back.A pimp in Bhadrak had arranged the marriage without dowry since Uzir was too poor to marry off his daughters. Sagupta had last visited her parents about six months back.Sarifuz said Sagupta had told them about traveling to Punjab with her husband for work. She had promised to visit them on their return. “Two days back, her in-laws called to inform about her death due to prolonged illness. She was fine during her last visit and we suspect some foul play,” she alleged.
