Ortho hospital celebrates one year

Vasanthi Orthopaedic Hospital (VOH), Arumbakkam, celebrated its first anniversary here on Sunday. The hospital, which was inaugurated on August 12 last year, has since grown to be a 50-bed speciality centre.

Founded by RH Govardhan, former professor and director of Institute of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at the Madras Medical College (MMC), the hospital now boasts of a computer navigation system for orthopaedic surgeries. Last year, doctors have conducted a total of 604 surgeries.

Vice-chancellor of the Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University Prof Mayilvahanan Natarajan presided over the inauguration.

Delivering the annual report, organising committee member Dr K Deepak gave an overview of the types of surgeries that have been conducted, the presentations and lectures given by doctors working at VOH and elaborated on Total Knee Arthroscopy procedures done at the hospital.

Senior professors K Sriram and K Annamalai also offered their congratulations on the occasion. A CME on current concepts in knee replacement and a live demo of navigated total knee replacement done by Prof Govardhan was also held.
