BHUBANESWAR: The State Tourism department has lined up a series of tours to make Puja and the coming winter exciting, beginning with the Durga Puja.
Cashing in on the festive season, the Orissa Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) has come out with special packages to different tourist destinations of the State. Four special packages have been introduced this time which include places of religious and tourist importance. The packages would begin from October 1 and continue till October 9. "A large number of domestic and foreign tourists visit the State during the Durga Puja and to cater to their demands, short daylong tours have been introduced this time," said marketing manager of OTDC Alok Mishra.

The tours include daylong tours from Bhubaneswar to Chilika (Satapada), Puri and back, Chilika (Barkul), Kalijai, Narayani and back, Barunei Ugratara and back, Ghatgaon Tarini and back. During the tours, the OTDC will arrange to and fro airconditioned conveyance and provide vegetarian lunch.

Sources said this year, around 200 stalls would be set up as a part of the Mahotsav which would also see a series of cultural programmes.

"This package has been designed to showcase the town's splendour during the 10day period of the Laxmi Puja as well as its arts and crafts and culture," Mishra said.
