This year, more than 1,90,000 students across India are appearing for the CAT on Sunday morning.

New Delhi: The Common Admission Test (CAT) is considered a passport to six-figure salaries and corporate paradise.

This year, more than 1,90,000 students across India are appearing for the CAT on Sunday morning.

CAT is held every year for admissions to six IIMs and 80 other management institutes in the country.

This year, despite the eligibility criteria being hiked to 50 per cent marks, the number of applicants has gone up by 20 per cent. So yes, it's just gotten tougher to get into a B-school of your dreams.

But the good news for aspirants is that they can now have two-and-a-half hour to complete the test hours – half an hour more than previous CAT.

CAT is considered the toughest among MBA examinations, which consists of three segments – (1) Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, (2) Data Interpretation and Logical Ability and (3) Quantitative Ability.

One can do well in CAT if in all the three areas – Verbal, Reasoning and Quantitative – he or she is equally good.

To qualify for the interview and Group Discussion, a general category students need to score 25 per cent in each subject, while total aggregate should be 33 per cent.

While a candidate who is either Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) or physically disabled will have to score at least 17 per cent and the total aggregate should be 33 per cent. ####Bell the CAT: Full coverage
