P Jayarajan re-elected Kannur District Secretary

PAYYANNUR (KANNUR): The Kannur district conference of the CPM which concluded here on Sunday re-elected P Jayarajan as district secretary of the party. Briefing mediapersons about the decisions taken at the delegates’ session of the meet, CPM leaders P Jayarajan and M V Jayarajan said that the election of the secretary and the district committee consisting of 45 members was unanimous.The official panel was okayed by the delegates  without contest, they said.The newly-formed district committee has six new members - Pinarayi area committee secretary P Balan, Sreekandapuram area committee secretary P V Gopinath, P V Krishnan, K Leela, SFI all-India joint secretary Dr V Sivadasan and DYFI district president A N Shamzir.Those excluded from the present district committee were: K P Sahadevan, K K Sailaja and K K Ragesh, who are state committee members. The delegates’ meet also elected 54 representatives to attend the state conference of the party.The CPM leaders condemned the attempts made by two journalists representing the visual media and one representing a newspaper to leak out the deliberations at the delegates’ session placing a microchip at the venue.  They said that the three journalists had already been identified.The party was holding a detailed probe into the issue, they said, adding that the attempt made by some “pro-right” mediapersons did not succeed as a result of the continued vigil maintained by the organisers and party volunteers.The conference adopted 54 resolutions, and the party has decided to take measures to expand its influence among the minorities and the weaker sections, the CPM leaders said.
