New Delhi: Writer Khushwant Singh, former Indian ambassador to the US Naresh Chandra and jurist Fali Nariman are among the 10 people who have been conferred with this year’s Padma Vibhushan.
Late US-based writer Raja Rao, US based physicist S E Chandy George, civil servant V Krishnamurthy, former chief justice of India P N Bhagawati, civil servant N N Vohra, academic Raja Jesudoss Chelliah, surgeon Balu Sankaran are others who have been given the Padma Vibhushan.
Among the 32 eminent persons awarded Padma Bhushan are Airtel owner Sunil Bharti Mittal, Pepsi chief Indra Nooyi, chairman of Suzuki Motors Corporation O Suzuki and social worker Mohini Giri.
The list of 79 Padma Sri awardees includes golfer Jeev Milkha, noted educationist Mushirul Hassan, chess player K Humpy, writer Vikram Seth and noted rights activist Teesta Setalvad.
