Pakistan media has found a novel way to combat restrictions put on it.

New Delhi: The media in Pakistan has found a novel way to combat restrictions put on it by Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf in the wake of Emergency.

Censorship has meant that several shows on private television channels have been taken off air so now, journalists have converted their television shows into street shows.

“They have all been anchors in studios inside their own TV channels, but if you ban them, they are going to come out on the streets,” said Zaffar Abbas, Resident Editor, Dawn News.

Stationed outside the Islamabad Press Club, a live audience has only added to their resolve to go ahead with what they do best, bringing news.

One such show anchored by Hamid Mir of Geo TV had cricketer-turned politician Imran Khan Zaffar Abbas as guests. An enthusiastic audience even participated by asking questions.
