Pak: Sacked NSA says he was within his right to make remarks
Durrani had given a statement that Kasab could be a Pakistani National.

New Delhi: Less than a week after being sacked as Pakistan's National Security advisor, Mahmud Ali Durrani has broken his silence. Durrani told Pakistan's Dawn News that he was well within his rights to make those remarks.

He said, “Pakistani PM and President were aware of my speaking on Ajmal Kasab. I have written authorization from the PM to speak on national security issue. And the Ajmal Kasab issue came under same domain.”

Pakistan's Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani sacked the country's National Security Adviser Mahmud Ali Durrani for giving a statement regarding Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone Pakistani terrorist arrested for the Mumbai attacks, without taking him into confidence.

Gilani said Durrani's statement in which he had said that Kasab could be a Pakistani national had tarnished the country's image.
