The judge warned that the cleric and his supporters would be declared absconders if they did not appear in the court on the next hearing.

Lahore: A Pakistani court has issued fresh arrest warrants against cleric Tahirul Qadri and 71 of his supporters, ordering police to produce them before it on August 29 for allegedly attacking policemen during a protest march against Nawaz Sharif Government.

Anti-Terrorism Court Gujranwala Judge Itifaq Abbasi had earlier asked police to produce Qadri and his supporters before it on August 23, but the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief and its activists failed to appear in the court.

The judge warned that the cleric and his supporters would be declared absconders if they did not appear in the court on the next hearing, the Dawn reported on Sunday.

Police had registered a case against the cleric and his 71 activists on charges of attacking and injuring at least 76 policemen in Sadhoki on GT Road during their protest march, the newspaper said.

Thousands of supporters of the firebrand cleric and PTI chief Imran Khan, demanding resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, are camping outside the Parliament building in Islamabad as their protests enetered the 11th day on Sunday.
