What could make for some drama is the exclusion of the three service chiefs from the meet, as there was no official request made for their attendance.

New Delhi: The Parliament's Standing Committee on Defence is slated for a meeting on Friday. On the agenda of the meet is the report on Demands for Grants of the Defence Ministry for the year 2012.

However, what could make for some drama is the exclusion of the three service chiefs from the meet, as there was no official request made for their attendance.

NDA members on the panel, though, are likely to question their absence.

In a previous meeting, several members had asked the Chairman to summon the chiefs to explain the preparedness of the defence forces.

The members had discussed Army Chief General VK Singh's leaked letter to the prime minister and several reports by CNN-IBN highlighting deficiencies and shortages of critical supplies.

What's your reaction?
