CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has rejected a writ petition praying for a direction to the government to initiate disciplinary proceedings against former City Police Commissioner T Rajendran for his failure to act on a complaint of the petitioner. The first Bench comprising Chief Justice MY Eqbal and Justice Aruna Jagadeesan, which rejected the plea, also turned down the petitioner’s separate plea to direct the police to register a complaint under Sec. 193 of the IPC against DMK MP Vasanthy Stanley. The Bench was acting on a public interest writ petition from advocate P Pugalenthi. “A public interest litigation like the present one could not and should not be entertained and was not maintainable,” the Bench said. “It is the bank and the court, which have to proceed against Vasanthy,”  the bench said and dismissed the PIL.
