PUDUCHERRY: The police have dismissed the allegations made by a woman from Mahe over the issue of her passport verification as false and baseless.According to a press release from the police department, Sunitha, a native of Palloor, Mahe, has applied for a passport at the regional passport Office, Calicut, Kerala. When the special branch, Mahe, received her passport application from the regional office for verification, it was revealed that Sunita had not stayed at her address for the last two years prior to April 2011 as she was studying  for an MBA (regular course) in Chennai. She had revealed the above fact when she deposed before the court of judicial magistrate Mahe in a case on October 2010.Accordingly, the special branch, Mahe, had sent a verification report to the regional passport office, Kozhikode, stating that Sunita had suppressed the fact of her residential address in her passport application.  But, she vehemently expressed her annoyance over the special branch police for sending such a report.  The RPO, Kozhikode, issued the passport before receiving the report of the police. Later the passport was withheld by the RPO.The police press release claimed that Sunita’s allegations against police personnel of Special Branch, Mahe, were enquired by Superintendent of Police, Mahe, and found to be false and baseless.Meanwhile, on September 5, Sunita met the Inspector General of Police, Puducherry, and gave a petition requesting action against the police personnel of Special Branch, Mahe. The IG directed P Tamilarasi, SP (Policing of Police) to conduct an enquiry and submit her report. According to the release, necessary action, deemed fit, will be taken on receipt of enquiry report. It may be recalled that Sunitha, hailing from Mahe region of the UT, urged the administration to initiate action against two special branch police personnel of Mahe who allegedly attempted to misbehave with her when she reached the office for passport verification. She alleged that two special branch police personnel asked her for `500 each for recommendation. When she refused they allegedly attempted to misbehave with her. She submitted a memorandum to the LG, Chief Minister and Chief  Secretary.
