VISAKHAPATNAM: A day after the murder of a realtor and his son at Aganampudi village near Gajuwaka, the city police are yet to ascertain the motive behind the crime or ascertain the identity of the culprits. The realtor V Sai Babu (43) and his son Pavan Naresh (23) were shot dead at their residence by unidentified assailants last night. Two country-made pistols left behind by the killers were seized by the police from the crime spot. One of Sai Babu’s relatives M Dinesh, who suffered bullet injuries while trying to save father and son duo, is undergoing treatment at King George Hospital in the city.Sai Babu, a native of Aviti village of Kothapeta mandal in East Godavari district, was staying in a rented house at Aganampudi for the past four years. Sources said he was into the real estate business in Anakapalle before shifting base to Aganampudi. However, Sai Babu’s father Narayana Murthy said his son was unemployed for the past few years and was living off his son Suresh, an employee in a private company in Hyderabad. Sources said the killing could be a fallout of real estate deal in Dibbapalem and a few other areas in the region. Babu was eliminated by his rivals though the killers tried to mislead the police by posing as dacoits, they added.Sources said last night two youths in their 20’s entered Babu’s house at around 9 pm and started firing with tapanchas (country-made pistols). Babu collapsed at the spot. Before leaving the house, they took away the gold ear-rings and chain of Babu’s wife Kamalamma. Narayana Murthy said the unidentified assailants fled in a red colour motorcycle.Speaking to Express, Commissioner of Police J Purnachandra Rao said   a manhunt has been launched to nab the killers. He said it is a “case of intention to rob”. Since the assailants were speaking in Hindi and Telugu, they may have an inter-state network, he added.  Police sources said they were investigating the case from various angles. Meanwhile, a police team went to Aviti village for investigation.
