PUDUCHERRY: Civil society activists from the Union Territory will be strongly backing Anna Hazare’s stand on the Lokpal Bill by organising a rally and fast here on August 16.S Hemachandran, retired IAS officer and coordinator of the programme, said that a decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of social organisations here on Friday.Activists of Fifth Pillar, INSAF, Human Rights and Consumer Protection Society, Rajiv Gandhi Human Rights Organisation and People’s Pulse were among those attended.The rally would be taken out from Periyar statue through the main thoroughfares of Puducherry town. It would be followed by the fast in front of Head Post Office. Anna Hazare’s team will hold a fast against the government’s version of Lokpal Bill from August 16 at Jai Prakash Narayan Memorial Park, in Delhi.
