New Delhi: Delhi Police are now investigating the conspiracy angle in the double murder of liquor baron Ponty Chadha and his brother Hardeep Singh. On Tuesday, four people including Ponty Chadha's two guards were arrested and it is becoming increasingly clear that if the police had act on time the bloodshed could have been avoided.
Delhi Police and forensic teams have been been looking for clues at Farm Number 42 in Chhatarpur where the two brother were allegedly killed. Police officials are also working on the theory that the murders were not merely because of the property dispute and there could be some other angle to it too.
According to the police, on November 17 Ponty Chadha's associated reached another farmhouse in Kapashera and forcibly entered the premises between 11.00 and 11.30 in the morning and started to intimidate Hardeep's men to vacate the farmhouse.
At the same time one of Ponty Chadha's friends reached another farmhouse in Chhatarpur. They fired in the air and forced Hardeep's men to leave the farmhouse following which they also fled away from the place. A call to a Delhi PCR was made at 11.50 am and a team of Delhi Police the farmhouse but returned without investigating as they could not find any one there.
Immediately after this incident at around 12.30 pm, Ponty Chadha reached the Chhatarpur farmhouse with his companion Sukhdev and a PSO, and the shootout took place. But till now Delhi Police have only arrested only four people. The police have arrested them on charges of attempted kidnapping, forcibly entering the farmhouse and attempted murder.
The police told the court they have been investigating the conspiracy angle when the four arrested people were presented before the judge. The police added that they have identified several people who were allegedly involved in the shootout.
Ponty’s friend and Uttarakhand Minorities Commission Chairman Sukhdev Singh's statement has also been recorded and his role in the entire incident is being investigated.
