Power disruption hits drinking water supply

ALAPPUZHA: The drinking water supply in Pazhavangady area was affected on Thursday as the KSEB stopped power supply to cut down branches of some trees which touched electric lines in the area.Reverse Osmosis Plant, the only outlet of the Kerala Water Authority in the area, was closed owing to the power disruption from 10 am to 6 pm on Thursday. The functioning of government offices, banks and shops was also disrupted. Thomas, a local resident said: “The KSEB officials created problems by stopping the electricity distribution for more than eight hours. They can stop the power supply for two or three hours. We were forced to buy mineral water to quench thirst.”
