London: Britain’s Prince Charles drew disapproving glares from the Queen when he seemed to drop off to sleep at an Armistice Day tribute.
As his eyes closed and his head slumped on to his chest, the Queen certainly appeared to suspect her eldest son had nodded off and gave him a stern stare.
Seconds later the prince roused himself and studied his programme. He and wife Camilla had joined other royals, Tony Blair and dignitaries at the poppy day gathering in London's Hyde Park, one of hundreds such events held around Britain.
“I was surprised when I saw the prince, he looked asleep during New Zealand premier Helen Clark's speech,” photographer Simon Jones was quoted by the News of the world, as saying.
"You wouldn't expect it at an event like this," he added.
