BANGALORE: With corruption taking forefront in the nation, Proud Indians, a group of professionals and students together with a vison to build an honest nation, are walking across the country from Kanyakumari to New Delhi. The group comprising of Abdul Mujeeb Khan, Vivek Reddy, Jawad Ali, Saiz Rai, Gia and Raju, the young young guns contributed their share to make a diference for a better nation. This idea triggered during a discussion on corruption and they were certain they could bring about change by doing something different. The group started walking from Kanyakumari on December 16, 2011 and reached Banglaore on January 6.Starting off was not easy as the activists while walking in Kerala were arrested twice on the grounds of suspicion at Cherthala and Kozhikode. Vivek Reddy one of the activists said, “We were suspected as terrorists and were frequently asked why the media was not involved.” Proud Indians would be going to Chennai, Vijaywada, Bhopal and Nagpur from where the group would split to cover the East and West part of India. A public gathering will also be held on January 8 at Cubbon Park followed by a walk from Cubbon Park via Anil Kumble Circle, Cubbon Road, Mayo Hall, Residency Road and St Marks Road at 8 am.An activist said, “Our target is to reach New Delhi on April 7 and present a memorandum to the Prime Minister requesting April 8 to be declared as ZeroCorruption Day.”
