Pulmedu tragedy: Cop asked for more proof

KOCHI: Evidence collection in the Pulmedu tragedy will be reopened for better clarifications to inquire whether an iron chain was responsible for blocking the movement of pilgrims at the chain point in Uppupura during the January 14 stampede last year.“Noticing that the investigation which had been conducted earlier had not focused on certain important aspects, some of the police witnesses and also the present investigating officer have been called to give further evidence on March 19 at the Commission’s office in Thiruvananthapuram,” office of the inquiry commission said.The commission also directed the police to produce the iron pillars and the chain and added that the report could be filed by the end of this month considering the disclosures expected on the next sitting.
