One among the many paintings displayed inside the Lalit Kala Academy gallery at Vyloppilli Samskriti Bhavan in the city captures one of the best shots of nature in colours. Trees and shrubs drawn in shades of black and violet give a splendid picture of night. Along with this comes a set of paintings, all done by art students who have participated in the art camp held at Piravom.Almost all are untitled ones, left to the connoisseurs to interpret. Another one appears to be an assemblage of frames from a crowded market place giving a pan shot of the whole scene. People and vehicles manoeuvring through the busy streets, vendors making business and the paraphernalia - everything communicates the hustle and bustle perfectly well. The work is done using minimal colours and the presence of lines dominate. The painting titled ‘Comfortable Place’ takes an entirely opposite view. The sight of a tiny hamlet through the thorny branches of a tall shrub from the top is eye-some.A particular state of mind in men is conveyed through ‘Forget Myself’. It can be a depiction of the extreme state of selflessness. The feeling of weightlessness carries one into another world, letting loose one’s thoughts and senses.The 16 artists whose paintings are on display are Dileep K U, Ashil Antony, Sujeesh Oncherry, Mona S Mohan, Mohammed Nizar, Anoop Kumar V S, Jayesh K K, Prasanth T S, Balakrishnan K R, Fr Eby Edassery, Vishnu V R, Sreeju Radhakrishnan, Santhosh R, Soumya N S, Jatheesh K and Vidhya Anirudhan.
