DHARWAD: Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Jagadish Shettar has strongly felt that Reddy brothers should be included in the state Cabinet. Speaking to media persons at the RN Shetty Stadium in Dharwad on Monday after the 65th Independence day celebrations, he stated that the BJP high command should never forget the hard work of former ministers Janardhan Reddy, Karunakar Reddy and B Sriramulu in bringing the party to power in the state.“The BJP high command should never forget that it was only due to the collective efforts of the Reddy Brothers, the BJP could enhance its strength in North Karnataka. Considering their efforts, the BJP high command should include the former ministers in the Cabinet,” the minister said. When reminded that Reddys are indicted in Lokayukta report, Shettar said they are named in mining issue and the report will be considered and produced before the Judiciary. “Unless their involvement in alleged illegal mining is proved, keeping them away from state politics is unfair,” he felt.Answering a query on his being deprived of the chief minister’s post, Shettar said that whatever has happened has happened in a democratic way and he will abide by the decision of the party high command. “I have enjoyed almost all posts which an elected representative can. Patience is always my strength and I will wait patiently,” he said.‘Include NK woman in Cabinet’He said that there was no woman representative from North Karnataka in the Cabinet. So, demand will be put before the Chief Minister to include a woman MLA from the region.Dharwad Rural MLA Seema Masuti is the lone woman candidate from the region. Sidelining senior politician and MLA Chandrakant Bellad, who is an aspirant for a ministerial berth, Shettar, without disclosing Seema’s name, hinted that she would be inducted into the Cabinet. He also stated that next Cabinet expansion is expected to be held in 10 days.
