ONCHIYAM: The Revolutionary Marxist Party on Tuesday decided to entrustK K Rama, wife of slain leader T P Chandrasekharan, with more responsibilities at a meeting of party’s Onchiyam area committee. N Venu was also appointed as the Onchiyam area secretary at the meeting. Addressing reporters here, Venu said that the party has decided to utilise Rama’s services to strengthen it.“Though she has not been bestowed with any position, she would gradually begroomed for an important post in the party as soon as she is mentally ready to take up the responsibility,” he said.The meeting decided to conduct a Chandrasekharan commemoration meeting atKottaparambu in Vadakara on Thursday.Rama is an employee of Vadakara Rural Co-operative Bank. She is a former state vice-president of the SFI and member of the CPM Onchiyam branch committee. After marriage, she had stepped away from active politics. However, in 2009, when Chandrasekharan floated the RMP, following discontent with the CPM leadership, she became an active party memberand was made the leader of the women’s wing of the party.Rama’s father K K Madhavan was a senior leader of CPM Balussery area committee. RMP leaders said that entry of Rama into partyleadership will strengthen the organisation and help the party cadre to move on.After the murder, many leaders, including CPM leader M V Raghavan, expelledCPM leader Berlin Kunjananthan and social activist K Ajitha visited Rama andson Abhinand.
