BELGAUM: Five people were killed and two were seriously injured when a car collided with a truck near Nippani town on PuneBangalore National Highway on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Anand Parvatikar, 52, Anjana, 46, Shobha, 75, Jayashree Padasalagi, 55 and Lakshmi Navaratna, 53. Shobha succumbed to her injuries in a private hospital while others died on the spot.

Anand's daughter Preeti, 7, and car driver Rakesh Jeevan Kalal of Banahatti received major injuries and have been admitted to Gandhi Hospital in Nippani.

The family had been to Mahalakshmi temple at Kolhapur in a Tata Indigo and were returning to Hubli.
