Mumbai: Former 007, Roger Moore is a man on a mission. The veteran actor in his role as UNICEF goodwill ambassador, advocated the use of iodised salt.
"Playing James Bond was easy. I had all the scripts before and I always beat the villains. Playing a goodwill ambassador to UNICEF is not a role, its real life. Here you don't always know the villains," Moore said.
The mission here is salt, iodised salt. Bollywood grabbed the opportunity to latch on to the cause of the moment and they looked suitably concerned.
"This gives me a platform to do something for the needy," actress Deepal Shaw said.
There were talks of doing a film with Mahesh Bhatt but it looks like that has to be taken with a pinch of salt.
"Actually I'll direct it and Mahesh Bhatt will play me," Moore said.
Moore accompanied by wife Kristina Roger also visited Jaipur and discussed the issue with Rajasthan Health Minister Digambar Singh.
Moore met some children in Bhamoria village in Rajasthan and also visited the Akshaya Patra kitchen, which is a voluntary organisation providing midday meals to around 35,000 children in government-run schools.
Moore, who was knighted by the British queen in 2003, had come to shoot for the 1983 Bond flick Octopussy that also starred two Indian actors Kabir Bedi and tennis player Vijay Amritraj.
