Mumbai: In a relief for sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, prime accused in the September 2008 Malegaon blast case, the Bombay High Court on Thursday allowed her to travel in second class AC compartment to Bhopal for appearance in another trial there.
The division bench of justices VM Kanade and PD Kode passed the order on the petition filed by Thakur praying that the authorities be directed to arrange travel by plane or in AC compartment of train.
The petition said she was ready to bear the expenses.
Her lawyer Ganesh Sovani had stated that his client had back and neck problems, and travel to Bhopal from Mumbai in sleeper class would cause her "unbearable pain".
The lower court rejected the plea, but the high court today allowed it, and directed that she would bear the expenses of her own travel and also that of the 11-member police escort team.
She has to appear in Bhopal court in the RSS worker Sunil Joshi murder case, where too she is an accused.
