THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police have arrested Sanofar who allegedly conspired with the main accused Sherif in the murder of Salim, whose chopped body was exhumed from Korani last month. Sherif was earlier arrested by the police in connection with Salim’s murder. Police detected the role of Sanofar in the murder after they found out that Sherif had made a call to Sanofar immediately after he murdered Salim and buried his dismembered body in a pit. According to the police, Sanofar and Sherif were roommates in Riyadh. They used to take money from Salim at low interest rates and lend it at higher rates. They decided to murder Salim after both had agreed to share the immense assets of Salim. It was in February that Sherif and Sanofar schemed to murder Salim.They had first decided to murder Salim in Saudi Arabia. However, the idea was dropped fearing the strict laws in Saudi Arabia and Sherif was asked to execute the plan in Kerala.It was Sanofar who advised Sherif to serve Salim beer mixed with sedatives so that Sherif could easily overpower Salim who was physically stronger than Sherif.Once the plan was executed, Sherif rang up Sanofar to inform him about the execution of the plan. It was this call that eventually led the police to confirm the role of Sanofar in the murder.The police were able to coax Sanofar in returning home from Riyadh with the help of his family members. Sanofar was produced at the Varkala court and was remanded to police custody.
