The government has dismissed a doctor and transferred five others for alleged lapse in conducting body examination of Bihar native Satnam Singh Mann, who was killed at the Peroorkada Mental Health Centre.
Disciplinary actions were taken against three doctors of Peroorkada Mental Health Centre, two of Karunagapally Taluk hosital and a doctor of Kollam District Hospital, based on the report submitted by Health Department Additional Director Dr Ramani.
The report had cleared the doctors of murder charge but stated that they had made lapse in checking whether Satnam had received any injury.
Dr Veena G Thilak, working on contract basis at Peroorkada Mental Health Centre, was dismissed while Dr Maya Raghavan was transferred to Attingal Community Health Centre.
Dr Ramachandran Nair was transferred to the General Hospital.
Dr Harish Mani of Kollam District Hospital was transferred to Kadakkal Taluk Hospital. Disciplinary action was also initiated against Dr Chintha Sukumaran who was transferred to Thazhava Primary Health Centre while Dr Kiran was transferred to Kottarakkara Taluk hospital.
Meanwhile, Dr Aneejia who last treated Satnam has been let off.
Murder Charges
Meanwhile, the Crime Branch team probing into the case has found out that three out of the four working inmates of the hospital, who had allegedly attacked Satnam Singh, were accused facing murder charges registered in Ernakulam, Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram districts.
