NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed videography and photography of the ongoing inventory of valuable jewels, diamonds, etc. inside the chambers of the Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram.A Bench comprising Justices R V Raveendran and A K Patnaik also directed the nomination of an archaeologist for the valuation of the treasure. During the hearing, Justice Raveendran said: “We are disturbed at the comments made by one of the persons of the committee which is currently evaluating the treasure. Therefore, from now on no member of the Supreme Court appointed committee shall talk to the media, till the completion of the inventory work.” The Bench also said the Central Valuation Institute of Lucknow shall be involved in the inventory work.Lawyer Vipin Nair, appearing for the respondents, said the inventory would serve no purpose unless the treasure of great value is videographed and photographed.Justice Raveendran accepted his request.The petition would be heard with the earlier one filed by the elder brother of the former Travancore king.“We will add one or two directions,” Justice Raveendran said, and posted the matter on Friday. The Bench also permitted the younger king to attend the inventory proceedings.
