New Delhi: The Supreme Court will hear the plea on cancellation of Vijay Mallya's passport on Wednesday.

Earlier, on March 9, the apex court asked Mallya to be present before it on March 30, with his passport, after it came to known that the beleaguered liquor baron had left the country on March 2.

Mallya, a Rajya Sabha MP, is facing legal proceedings for his alleged involvement in a loan default cases of Rs 9,000 crore.

A consortium of 13 banks had moved the court seeking the freezing of his passport. It was learnt that a notice was earlier served to Mallya official Rajya Sabha email ID through Indian High Commission in London. Then he was asked to reply within two weeks and posted the matter for March 30, 2016.

Meanwhile, dismayed over abusive tweets to Siddharth's (son) by some people, Mallya tweeted, "My son Sid does not deserve all this hatred and abuse. He has had nothing to do with my business. Shower abuse on me if you must but not him. Slam me if you must but not a young man".

Siddharth has faced a criticism on Twitter after Mallya left India. People - while expressing their anger - questioned him about his father's location through twitter.
