Scarlett remembered on her death anniversary
She was drugged, raped by two locals and left to die on the beach on February 18 2008.

Panaji: A year after the British teenager Scarlett Eden Keeling's body was found at Anjuna beach, the well wishers and friends of her family will light candles and offer flowers at the beach tomorrow.

The Britons and other Europeans will be leading the crowd to the Anjuna beach tomorrow evening. Local NGOs are also expected to participate in 'remembering the scarlet.'

"Fiona Mackeown (Scarlett's Mother) will not be coming to India as she fears threat to her life. She will not come right now," Vikram Varma, Fiona's lawyer said.

The mother has been facing charges of neglecting Scarlett on the day of her death. A social activist Aires Rodrigues has moved the High Court stating that Fiona be charged under Goa children's Act for neglecting her minor daughter while they were on Goa tour.

Scarlett's semi nude corpse was found at Anjuna beach on February 18 last year. Initially, police had claimed it as accidental drowning and later re investigated the case only to be proved that two locals had drugged, raped and left her to die on the beach.

A sub inspector lost his job while forensic expert Dr Silvano Sapeco was suspended for some days in the sequence of events that occurred post-Scarlett's death.
