Police busted a flesh trade racket, running in a housing colony near Hansapal area, and arrested seven persons, including three girls, on Friday. Two cars, Rs 32,000 cash and dozens of condoms were recovered from a duplex house in Metro Satellite City where the trade was running.
Police, which had been tipped off about the racket, took the customers as well as the girls by surprise when they conducted the raid on Friday morning. However, the main operator of the racket Munna Hussain Khan had information about the swoop and escaped along with another woman. Police suspect Sunil Meher, who was arrested by Commissionerate Police several times in the past in connection with sex rackets, is behind this trade too. Sources said, Meher, currently in a prison in West Bengal, is controlling such operations from behind the bars.
2 held for abduction: Mancheswar Police arrested two youths in connection with abduction of one Sagar Patra from Jaripatna area.
Prashant Raj and Prasanna Nayak had allegedly abducted Sagar on August 1 and demanded Rs 1 lakh as ransom from the latter’s family.
Police said Sagar owed some money to Prashant’s kin and would not repay despite repeated reminders. He was returning from his village on August 1 when the two abducted him.
