SI held for accepting bribe

The Anti Corruption Bureau sleuths on Tuesday arrested a Central Crime Station (CCS) sub-inspector for accepting a bribe of Rs 15000.

The sub-inspector, P Lalitha,54, was caught red-handed, in her office, for accepting the bribe to facilitate the bail of an accused held in a dowry case.

The bribe amount was recovered from the locker of an iron safe in the office of the accused. Her fingerprints matched with those on the tainted money, which was offered as the bribe. ACB officials said Lalitha would be produced before the first additional special judge.

The accused was attached with the Central Crime Station, a wing of the city police.
